Meet at Dune Care trailer at the footbridge, collect tools and for a briefing on target weeds, before heading to the back of the dunes.

Visiting volunteer week, accommodation provided at Arakoon House (and possibly other nearby locations.)

Visiting volunteer week, accommodation provided at Arakoon House.

Monday 28th July: at Tahlee Close (off Quarry Street). We will be working on some climbing asparagus weeds in preparation for contractors to do follow-up spraying under a grant from Kempsey Shire Council.
Tuesday 29th July: South Smokey Beach, meeting near the 4WD beach access track in the campground off Lighthouse Road. We’ll be working in the beautiful area north of the track toward the lighthouse.
Wednesday 30th July: The visiting volunteers have a free day. However, if anyone would rather work, they would be welcome to join the Arakoon Bushcare group who start from the nursery, near the NPWS works depot, at 8.30am and finish at 11.00.
Thursday 31st July: At Stuarts Point, helping the local group. We will be working along the track from the footbridge to the ocean. Meet at the car park, near the footbridge, at Stuarts Point at 9.00. We will finish at 12.30.
Friday 1st August : At the Boyters Lane Bird Hide in Jerseyville. Meet at the first gate near South West Rocks Road. You can park either on the grassy area beyond the bus stop on South West Rocks Road, or in the main Bird Hide car park 250m down Boyters Lane. Please don’t park on the edge of Boyters Lane as there isn’t room.

Sunday 27^h July

Regular Sunday weeding 8.45 AM to 1.00PM

Back Creek.

We’ve been consistently removing invasive weeds (especially bitou bush) on the dunes at Back Beach since 2012. The native vegetation is recovering beautifully. Now it’s generally easy follow up, wandering around to find scattered weeds. But if you feel like a ‘green gym’ workout we can usually find a bigger infestation of bitou or lantana that’s been missed.
